I had dinner last night with Gord Dickie and Graham Eisenhaures at a new restaurant in Halifax known as Drift located in The Residences at Queen’s Marquee. I can see it becoming a most popular destination; great vibe, excellent service, impeccable food especially if you’re a seafood lover.
Seafood is not at the top of my list but I’ve been doing experimenting with Chowders in the last few months and this has opened up a whole new mindset around delectable delights.
Drift does not do a Seafood chowder but there are plenty of other teasing options. As an appetizer, I started with THE GREAT DEVILED EGG; absolutely delicious. As per every meal I have a limit on volume and the portion size was six wonderful eggs. In hindsight, I should have brought what I couldn’t eat home as it would have been a wonderful meal today. Janet promises to make me some and her’s are a treat so that craving will be satisfied.
I finished with the NOVA SCOTIA LOBSTER BISQUE which is lobster sour cream, tarragon, and puff croutons. Every mouthful was a joy but as with the appetizer more than I can consume but a great size if you’re just looking for a small meal. I find it odd that my tastes are diversifying into seafood but it’s nice to have new choices.
Gord and Graham both went with the steak and fries and were happy with their choice.
So if you’re looking for a fine local dining experience, put this on your list. It will not disappoint.
