Riding in the Race Around the Netherlands will be a demanding physical challenge. As my second race, I have a good idea what to expect and I know it will push my limits. Last year I had no idea what to expect and I was terrified. This year I have a good idea what to expect. Yes it will be a challenge but there will be great inner peace when the only focus is ride, stay on the course, eat all the time to stay fueled and treat the body like a temple.
I decided this endeavor is a good excuse to fund-raise for a cause which is near and dear to my heart.
After 9/11, I started donating blood regularly. Now I donate plasma almost weekly. It takes longer but can be done more frequently. I feel good about every donation and plan to donate until I’m unable to do so.
I selected the Canadian Blood Services as a cause to support during my race. The agency has been re-branding during the last several months and I like the expression that CBS is Canadas’ Lifeline. It’s in you to give.
